Don’t worry I’m still alive!!
Where did I nearly die? The Blue Mountains west of Sydney. The perfect weekend getaway for the Sydney family. Or in my case, a pure wolf creek moment. Yes, I’m exaggerating.
Both Mark and I booked on one of the many tours going to the Blue Mountains and their popular old town of Katoomba, to continue with our sightseeing of the Sydney region after a coastal walk from Bondi Beach. After busily snapping Mark being asleep on the way there, we were given an ace commentary by the bus driver who showed us the valleys surrounding the Blue Mountains, which has its colour from the sunlight reflect off the natural chemicals released by the vegetation upon it.
We were first taken to flat rock to appreciate the scenery around us….and also for Mark and I to mess around with poses…and it was the time when I nearly died. At the end of the plateau, there’s a massive steep drop and there are no barriers as the tour guide warned us. I stepped up to do a pose on a ledge overlooking the valley many light years down but got in the way of someone having their pose taken as mark warned me. I apologised and went to clamber up back onto the plateau.
Sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip!
My foot skidded loose back to the ledge and the momentum would have carried me off if it wasn’t for my quick thinking to hurl my weight back on the plateau and awkwardly land safe. I gave Mark a massive heart attack! And many more people around whose faces went absolutely white! I just laughed in the face of danger and assured everyone I was ok looking responsible and sensible…possibly failed looking like a twat in my hat.
Oh well, we soon turned our attentions to the wonderful scenery in this gorgeous day and carried on snapping. We also went on the sky railway, a feat in the Guinness book of records as its the most vertical railway in the world. It was quite a ride!
Enjoy the photos…I still won’t stop posing…
Cool pictures! Looking at these I am getting excited about planning a trip to Australia in January to visit one of my friends.
