Did you know that Belgium truly has a big secret?
It’s called Ghent, the old capital of Flanders. I was recommended by Visit Flanders to check out the gorgeous city on my Belgian trip, ‘#RexyinBelgium‘ starting from Bruges and finishing in Brussels. I had a couple of choices really, I could either go to Ghent, Antwerp or Ypres. However, tired from my ferry crossing the night before from Hull to Bruges and spending a stressed day in Bruges, I was pretty happy to go to a city that I admittedly haven’t heard of before. And you know what? It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made this year.
After I checked into Hostel47 in the centre of Ghent, I went exploring amid the evening twilight and within minutes, I fell in love with the beautiful city of Ghent. Actually, for the rest of the evening, I had a mantra that I kept repeating: ‘This is where I would live on the continent!’ The next day, I simply continued to fell in love with the city and its people. Did you know Belgian people are rather good looking? Perhaps more than their French neighbours?
But before I tell you everything I found about in Ghent, I’m going to show your 33 pictures as reasons why I think Ghent is just so stunningly beautiful. if you want to find out more, why not check out the Visit Gent Website?

Oh my god, the frites was to die for! I’m already salivating just thinking about them!

It was my pleasure!
Dear, thank you very much for this Blogpost. I live in Ghent and really enjoyed reading such wonderful words about my beloved city. You kinda saw 1% of it, I hope you come back because it has even MORE to offer without you knowing!
We even have a beach!!! It just takes you 10 minutes by bicycle from the city center! And in July we have 10 days of festival. Right in the city center, it’s the second biggest outdoor festival in Europe. 10 crazy days of party, music literly begind EVERY corner, streetartists and theatre plays on the street or just in the window of a house.
Ghent really is an enchanting place, with a Golden Dragon on top of the Belfry that protects its city.
There’s no place like it. And there’s no place like home.
Xx Zoe
