‘Wow, Olden is BEAUTIFUL!’
I exclaimed as I walked along the road from the port leading up to the town centre of Olden in Central Norway. This was probably the 1001th time I said this since I woke up on board my Fred Olsen Cruise ship and opened up the windows to find we have docked in another world. Was I dreaming?
My eyes were riveted to such beauty (I know, it takes a lot after staring myself in the mirror keenly) and while I stuffed breakfast in my mouth by the window, I was itching to go exploring to walk through the clouds. Both my parents opted to stay on board and observe from the deck but as soon as they said that, I grabbed my bag and ran to the tug boat that took me ashore.
The air was wet but exhilarating, the freshness revitalising my spirits. The dew covered my face but I laughed out a loud that I didn’t care that it gave me a sense of purpose to traverse the paths that surrounded the Floen lakes that was a scene of peaceful tranquility. Passing through the Olden churches that reflected their Nordic roots, I waved hello at the rare sight of a hiker who passed by with big grins on their faces that matched mine.
Olden was truly out of this world. Just see the pictures below and inspire yourself to get away from the busy chaotic lifestyles from home.
After a few hours of exploring, I climbed back on aboard the ship but yet, I simply had to climb in the outdoor jacuzzi and watch the sun goes wispy as it set into the horizon behind the fjord mountains.
What a day to remember!
Olden, Norway, you beauty! Even as beautiful as I am!
