Deaf Travel Inspiration
Deaf People can be AWESOME independent solo travellers...I cannot believe how easy it is to travel as a deaf person.
It’s true. I was so scared to travel on my own that I put it off for eight years. Now I absolutely wish I could have gone as it is so easy to travel as a deaf person. If only I had someone to inspire me then to grab hold of the opportunity and who knows, I would have seen a hell a lot more of the world. So, I want to inspire the next generation of deaf people to travel. If I can do it, you can do too. Just read my stories below.
If you’re looking for more personal stories about my Deafness, why not check out my Cochlear Implant Journey story or my in-depth interview about being deaf throughout my life.
Or if you’re a deaf person and you want to ask me more questions, please feel free to email me at rexyedventures@gmail.com

Water: The Nemesis of the Deaf Traveller
Don't you just love hearing that splash as you dive in (in my case, pathetically jump in) a world wonder whether it's Halong Bay in Vietnam, Lake Mahinapua in New Zealand, the rapids of the River Nile in Africa or quite simply a skinny dip in local Skeggy? I don't. ...

How do deaf people listen to music?
How do deaf people listen to music? This is the question I hear, pretty much on a regular basis. My answer? I usually say this: 'I'm normally sashaying my hips wildly, gesturing to the reflection of good old handsome me in the window of the tube carriage while I'm...

Deaf Smoke Alarms Brings About Alien Abductions…
My eyes snapped open, jolting me out of my deep and I became terrified. The whole room flashed crazily red, white, green and blue. The bed was shaking and I thought I could hear a high-pitched whine that rooted me to my bed that tried to chuck me off. That was it. I'm...

Happy Mother’s Day, Mum
'Make sure you go and travel the world while you're young.' My Mum imparted this advice to me when I was lanky 13-year-old pouring over maps with her to find out what the capital of Zambia was. She had seen my eyes light up as I greedily took in all the mapped...
